The Opera Academy Verona is a consortium that comprises the Ministry of University and Research, the "Fondazione Arena di Verona", the Conservatory of Music "E.F. dall'Abaco", the University of Verona, the Academy of Fine Arts "G.B. Cignaroli", the National Academy of Dance of Rome, the National Academy of Dramatic Arts of Rome "Silvio D'Amico", the Istituto Superiore per le Industrie Artistiche (ISIA) of Florence, the City and Province of Verona, and the Veneto Region. Besides, "Fondazione Cariverona", Accademia Filarmonica di Verona and Fondazione Salieri of Legnago (VR) support the consortium.

This teaching centre aims to develop in north-eastern Italy a cooperation between educational institutions and organizations specializing in the production of music theatre and dance.

The institutions which form the consortium will organize courses on Òthe professions relating to music theatre and danceÓ (as Composer, Librettist, Conductor from the Harpsichord for Baroque Opera, Stage Director, Scenographer, Costume Designer, Opera Conductor, Music Theatre Producer), guarantee their quality and issue legally recognized qualifications.

The Academy aims to train specialized artists and to promote performances as a consequence of its activities; to research into contemporary styles and artistic expressions as a means of renewing the world of Opera; to undertake scholarly research into early Italian Opera; promote discussion on Italian Opera as a cultural legacy of our age.

The Academy aspires to become an international point of reference in a series of fields: research into the relationship between artistic production and audiences; the social importance of contemporary art, with a stress also on artistic "contaminations"; the labour market; the methodologies adopted; and the condition of the artistic and educational institutions.

The courses started in academic year 2008/2009 . Students with previous qualification in this field and artistic experience may apply for the restricted-access Masters and thus have the opportunity to attend the academic courses under the supervision of teachers of international renown.

All the artistic productions will be the result of the theatre workshops run by the ÒFondazione Arena di VeronaÓ and supported by Ministry of Cultural Affairs.

Also contemplated are cooperations with important national and international opera venues.

From April 2009 students can enrol for academic year 2009/2010. For information please visit website www.operacademyverona.org or contact our administrative office: info@operacademyverona.org phone. +39 045 8031012 fax +39 045 8012239.
